We do many things to alienate the people around us. Most of these tasks do not require effort. This article mentions some of them.
1- Sharing many photos on social networks
Sharing too many photos on social networks, including Facebook, can damage our relationships. Sharing too many family photos does not create a good image of us to our friends and family.
2- Having too many or too few friends on Facebook
In one study, people’s popularity was lowest when they had about 100 Facebook friends. Also, this popularity was the same when that person had more than 300 friends.
3- Disclosure of private matters
Revealing personal matters when we are just getting to know each other will make us look weak in the eyes of others. Instead, try to talk about your childhood hobbies and fond memories.
4- Putting a close-up photo as a profile
Research shows that a photo of a face taken from a distance of half a meter is less reliable, attractive, and suitable than one from a distance of 1.5 meters.
5- Hiding feelings
Scientists say that expressing emotions is a better strategy for getting loved by those around us than suppressing emotions.
6-Behaving too well
A study shows that being too nice makes us look bad or appear to have other goals. Sometimes, we should say “no” and explain why we can’t do that.
7- Defining yourself
To impress our friends and colleagues, we should refrain from praising ourselves while trying to appear humble. This behavior will make people stay away from us.
8- Being overly fussy
Research shows that the smell of sweat caused by nervousness unconsciously causes others to make different judgments about our personalities. They also think we are less reliable and trustworthy.
9- Lack of humor
According to research, people who are very dry and not funny will not be popular with others.
10- Not laughing
According to a study, people who smile are more popular than those who don’t.
11- Showing hatred for someone
When we think that someone likes us, we will also feel this interest towards him. On the other hand, if we behave in a way that shows that we hate someone, this will affect how others feel about us.
