Avoiding seven behaviors that lower or destroy self-confidence
We know the benefits of self-confidence and how it can make a huge difference in our careers, communities, and personal lives. Most of us have heard of ways to increase self-confidence, but we should also know that doing something without knowing it can cause self-confidence loss.
1- Seeking approval from anyone: Confident people are not interested in getting approval from others. They know that not everyone agrees with them. They work more on the quality of relationships with respectable and valuable people instead of intimacy and convincing everyone they see. Let’s not let the opinions of worthless people define who we are and what we can do. This offends the people around us.
2- Too much focus on obstacles instead of solutions: Life is full of obstacles, and every obstacle has a chance to grow. Competitions often cause anxiety and worry. We have the choice to focus all our attention on the problem or first acknowledge the problem and then look for a solution.
3- Enjoying drama and uncomfortable things: Everyone loves drama. Cinema and television show it in a seductive way. They attract attention and allow us to clarify our values. Some people love drama and create it in life without any expectations. Unnecessary and constant drama causes stress and destroys self-confidence.
4- Interpreting failure as a reflection of value: Successful people in the world know that failure is a simple part of learning, and with it, they get one step closer to success. This is understandable.
5- Staying hidden from new life experiences: It is very easy to stay in our daily lives, do the same things, and eat the same foods. This may make us feel comfortable, but it can destroy our self-confidence. If we don’t grow, then we are dead. Let’s explore and travel.
6- Self-criticism: Criticizing yourself is not a good habit because it quickly reduces self-confidence and self-esteem. Judging others can be just as harmful. It is better to try to avoid judging others and think positively about yourself.
7- Apology: When you want to apologize to someone, you should do it in the right way and try to make your apology completely appropriate. If you are used to constantly apologizing to others, you will find it difficult to maintain self-confidence.
